    Hey everyone,

I have an ESS smooth stepper, and an MB3 breakout board using mach 4
    The question I have is-

How do i get my encoders to work in mach 4 using Nema 34 (1699.34oz.in) and CL86T drivers closed loop system ?

also how do i set it up in mach 4?

If you have the right motors with encoders the encoder just connects to the driver, I don't think Mach4 has anything to do with it.

I meant to reply to this when it was first posted, but forgot.

As John says, for these kind of drives, there is no encoder feedback to the controller.
You simply send them the step/dir signals, and they handle the positioning.

Depending on the exact drives you have, I'd only connect the Alarm signal, as that should be triggered on a big position error, which would indicate a stall, by which point you'd want the machine to stop anyway.
