Has anyone any recommendations to go looking at best replacement bearings for a 2.2Kw W/C spindle, had one company come back at £300 plus each for ceramic.

I've replaced bearings on motors and other equipment knowing that the replacements I fit are from a local industrial bearing supplier and will give a normal service life, probably outlasting Chinese variants the OEM used by many times,
Regards,
NickYou think that's too expensive? You're not a Model Engineer are you? :D

Any bearing chosen must be capable of sustaining the required RPM of a spindle, also the grease you use is crucial at those speeds.
I replaced a bearing on a 20K RPM spindle for a pin router, the replacement was a FAG B7206-C-T-P4S-UL
it replaced a Japan NSK 7206C and the grease I used was SKF LGLT 2/0.2
Of course that bearing is most likely not suitable for your spindle but it gives an idea of what I used, and it's still going strong.
FAG bearings were the best price/performace offering I could find at the time but I can't remember which supplier I used.(it would be the cheapest though)Last edited by EddyCurrent; 16-11-2017 at 10:56 AM.

Thanks guys for all the input I don't like the idea of throwing the spindle away and buy a new one just to save money, I will take a look at the FAG bearings.

Do you want the best, or the cheapest? very high quality spindle bearings cost far more than complete chinese spindles.
I'd pick up some mid range quality bearings, and get some good grease, like Kluber Isoflex NBU15.
I'd expect the cost is going to be at least half the price of a new spindle, and a fair amount of work to change them. A new spindle may be a better option. Certainly a much easier option.Gerry
