You might be interested in the second one aswell as you have a steel box section machine. The vibration damping seems to be massively improved by filling with pipes wrapped in damping tape and concrete compared to a plain concrete fill.

Great info, though a lot of the first paper went over my head! :)
I'm pleased to see constrained layer damping is effective; I thought it might be a good way to go.

Quick glance looks like there is some seriously heavy reading there so a lot will probably go straight over my head if I can't remember what I learnt all those years ago lol
Looks like a good find for those that will be able to understand it all though. I did learn enough to realise that I may need to rethink things, looks like my cardboard & selotape machine may have a few faults.

Me too, I'm still being a bit of a dunce and can't find any material for muppets like me to bridge the math gap so I can understand how to apply the maths correctly myself but I can at least look at the pretty pictures. :)
I've just downloaded z88 so I can play with some FEA software, if I can outsource the clever bits to the computer I'm hoping I can get away with tweaking designs based on pretty colours...
